Small edible June Beetles (Holotrichia sp.)

There’s no shying away from the fact that these beetles once crawled, flew, fed and bumped into things (they are quite clumsy). But that doesn’t mean they aren’t perfectly edible if you’ve got the stomach for it. With their crunchy and unique taste, June beetles are a great source of protein and calcium. 

When alive these little creatures are nocturnal, so if you want to be sympathetic to their habits, enjoy them in the evening as a party snack, unusual pizza topping, dipped in chilli sauce, however you like - it’s what they would have wanted.

We source our June beetles from trusted collectors in Thailand and Cambodia and only buy the freshest and highest quality insects. Once harvested, they are immediately frozen before being cleaned, boiled and dehydrated to preserve their nutritious content.

When fully dehydrated we season the bugs with salt and pack them in high quality foil bags with moisture and oxygen absorbers, keeping them fresh for over a year.
 
Each bag contains 15 grams of dried June Beetles. Each beetle weighs approximately 1.5 grams after dehydration.
